Toil to Keep Society on Course

Fealty is a game of those who sit at the foot of the throne, who direct the fate of a fantastical nation in the name of a capricious monarch, forced to choose between the whims of the crown and the needs of the many. Players take on the roles of the various courtiers of the monarch’s privy council, the true power behind the throne. You will define the monarch, their humours, and their shifting interests using a deck of cards, and use chess pieces to power your moves and trade the various resources of Kyr. Will you lead the country to a golden age, or set the stage for revolution?

Create a Fantastical World

Fealty takes place in the fantasy nation of Kyr, full of places of interest and magic that the players define through play. You will also define the neighbouring countries of Fordor, Tark, and the recently formed Gance Republic. Using player moves you will build histories, detail cultures, and work cooperatively to not only tell a story of courtly intrigue and high drama, but to build the world in which it takes place. Do centaurs roam the fields of Tark? Do giants pilot the ships of Fordor? What cataclysm befell the old Gance Empire? All this and more await you in each game of Fealty.

Where can I acquire a physical copy of the game?

Indie Press Revolution will have some eventually, and I'll have extras from the Kickstarter on sale here once I've finished shipping them out to backers.

I'm excited to play. Love the structure of the chess pieces and cards with intriguing prompts, and the breadth of potential stories. It looks like it really sings for in person games, but I'm curious to try it with some online groups. What do you think would be the best way to play online? Miro board?

Yeah Miro is what I tend to default to these days. Roll20 ain't bad if you're just moving tokens around too, plus has playing cards already integrated.

I love the way this game ties the resources of the kingdom to the tokens the players use for their moves, and really love the backfoot moves to gain tokens. The playbooks all have a solid and unique niche, and the moves are very interesting in not just how they can direct a scene, but also change the kingdom.

While I'm excited to try this game as a stand-alone, I feel like it could be overlayed on a ton of different ttrpgs and used as a really interesting kingdom management and court intrigue tool. That has me really excited!

Thanks so much!

And I totally agree with pairing this game with others or other settings. We made the setting of Kyr and other nations vague so that players can have agency in defining it during play, but that also means you could combine it with other things really easily!
